I do agree that breakrooms increase worker productivity. My wife had a position with a retailer that had absolutely no breakroom and it was a miserable experience.

The biggest issue I see with breakrooms is both accessability and cleanliness. It should be in a centralized area (in my opinion) easily accessable to busy employees since every second of break time is truly precious theses days. The cleanliness issue can be anti-microbial countertops and other easily cleaned surfaces because there are those workers who are “slightly” less than clean.

While the new “openess” of work environments has limited a dedicated breakroom area, it still has its place in the modern workplace.
